The natural wines of the Loire Valley
Sylvie Augereau said it so well... "No one is supposed to ignore the Loire!".
The Loire vineyard is a wide mosaic of soils and grape varieties which gives it a great diversity of wines. Starting from Auvergne to the Pays Nantais via Sancerrois, Touraine and Anjou in particular, the vineyards of the Loire Valley are the most extensive in France. There are a multitude of grape varieties (24) including Melon de Bourgogne (Muscadet), Chenin, Chardonnay, Folle Blanche, Romorantin and Sauvignon for the whites. Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau, Pineau d'Aunis and Côt for the reds. Varied styles of wine, ranging from dry to sweet and sparkling, thanks in particular to the many ways of Chenin.
