The story of Domaine Robin Carette
Trained at the Montreuil-Bellay wine school, Robin Carette learned his craft at Domaine Mosse before striking out on his own. His first vintage was 2021, when he settled in Thouarcé, in the heart of the Layon valley, on a small estate of just under 5 hectares certified organic. From young Anjou vines to the slopes of Bonnezeaux, he adapts each vinification to its plot, between barrel and stainless steel, with a single obsession: freshness. In just a few vintages, Robin has become one of the young Loire names to watch closely.
The cuvées of Domaine Robin Carette
Chenin is the heart of the estate, from the liveliest to the deepest. Les Salines, from young vines, is a chiselled, mineral and saline white, while Ernestine and Vénus draw on Bonnezeaux Chenin for richer whites built for ageing. On the red side, Redrum showcases Pineau d'Aunis, peppery and spicy, while Ringo blends Grolleau and Cabernet Franc into a light, fruity crowd-pleaser. For bubbles, the Hinodé (Chenin) and Hitachi (Chenin, Chardonnay and Pineau d'Aunis) pet-nats are made for aperitifs. Not forgetting Piha, a lively Chardonnay lifted by a touch of Chenin.
