It was in 2016 that Myriam Filleton and Pierre Gobet founded Les Vins de la Chamaille on the terroirs of the Côte Roannaise, in the Loire. Altitude, south-facing exposure, granite bedrock, biodynamic farming… Everything comes together to produce gamay Saint-Romain exclusively, with no additives, unfiltered and unsulphured.

The story of Les Vins de la Chamaille
It was in 2016 that Myriam Filleton and Pierre Gobet founded Les Vins de la Chamaille, on the terroirs of the Côte Roannaise in the Loire department. A still little-known vineyard on the edge of the Massif Central, which nevertheless has everything needed to make great gamay: altitude, south-facing slopes and granite subsoil. The estate is farmed biodynamically, Demeter certified, with careful soil work. In the cellar, the approach is radical: wines with no additives, unfined, unfiltered and unsulphured. The king grape here is gamay Saint-Romain, a local form of gamay that gives fine, airy wines with a little spicy touch typical of the Roannais. Free-spirited wines that taste of fruit and granite, showing the full potential of this still underrated corner of the Loire.
The cuvées of Les Vins de la Chamaille
Panique Générale is the estate's thirst-quencher, and the cuvée that made us fall for La Chamaille. The gamay is planted on the Bonichons slope, a hillside of granite and sand in the north of the Côte Roannaise. Made with no additives, unfined and unfiltered, it gives a crunchy, juicy and highly drinkable wine, with that hint of spice typical of Roannais gamay. Depending on the vintage, Panique Générale is airier and fresher or more generous, but it always keeps its spirit: a wine for friends, served slightly chilled with a bit of saucisson at aperitif time or a nice charcuterie board.
