What is organic wine?

Organic farming is, today, omnipresent in our daily life. This farming method is used for unprocessed products (vegetables, fruits, cotton, animals, etc.) and for processed products, such as for humans (cheese, bread, etc.). Vines are also subjected to a farming method, including organic farming. A wine from organic farming is an environmentally friendly wine, but not only.

An organic wine is therefore produced from grapes cultivated according to organic farming practices. This means that the winemaker does not use any chemicals in the vineyard. Winemakers who grow using organic farming methods work with the greatest respect for the environment. They focus on their vines and their healthy development. However, unlike natural wine, an organic wine limits the use of chemicals only in the vineyard. There are no restrictions on winemaking.

Are all wines certified organic?

No, not all wines are certified organic. Obtaining the "Organic Farming" certification requires a very meticulous process beforehand. If you choose an organic wine, it means that it complies with the standards of organic farming, and the charter has been respected. There are many elements involved, and the winemaker cannot use certain chemicals or exceed certain quantities. However, many winemakers are not certified organic even though they have been cultivating using these methods for years. For some, it is self-evident, and they refuse the certification. Sometimes, learning more beyond the label leads to beautiful discoveries.
