Nestled between La Roche-sur-Foron and Annecy, in the picturesque village of Villaz, is an estate that embodies passion, freedom and respect for nature. Les Coteaux des Girondales, run by artisan winemaker Francis Rousset, are a living testimony to the love of wine and organic farming.

The current name of the hamlet Les Vignes comes from the rebirth of the largest vineyard area in Villaz, initially covering 3 hectares. Francis Rousset's ambitious goal is to produce organic wines, white and red, that embody the essence of the region.
Once a tireless traveller and bookseller in Aix-les-Bains, this Haute-Savoie native set off on a very different journey in 2016 by taking up winemaking. After training in viticulture and oenology in Burgundy, and gaining experience in the vineyards of Geneva and the Combe de Savoie, Francis chose to plant local grapes on his three hectares in Villaz: Jacquère, Altesse, Roussanne, Gamaret, Mondeuse, Persan, Douce Noire, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Like their creator, the wines of Coteaux des Girondales are free, pure and airy. Macerations are short, and there is no place for wood in the cellar or for inputs during vinification. Just a hint of sulphur is added at bottling to protect these precious nectars. All the cuvées are labelled Vin de France, a sign of Francis Rousset's wish to give free rein to his artistic expression while respecting the principles of organic farming.
