Story of music, wine and nature at Face B

The Face B estate of Séverin and Mathilde is located in Calce. Famous village of Roussillon where the culture of natural wine is anchored thanks to this community of winegrowers working in organic and/or biodynamic farming. Séverin took over an estate in 2016 after spending 10 years in Burgundy. Face B for the concretization of a new life and the second side of a vinyl where are the best tracks that you want to make discover to your friends. Séverin therefore produces pure wines, with the wild character of Roussillon but the generous fruit of Languedoc with a fresh, airy and juicy style.
Séverin Barioz now cultivates 8 hectares of vines, all conducted in organic and biodynamic farming. Arming oneself with patience is one of the best qualities of the Face B estate, which does almost all the work by hand. Séverin and Mathilde want to reduce the estate's carbon footprint as much as possible. Only the work of the soil is still done mechanically and certain preparations to be distributed on the vines. At the Face B estate, the goal is to preserve and best reflect the unique soil of Calce through the wines.

Patience required at the Face B estate

Séverin Barioz aims to respect as much as possible the grapes he grows on these unique, authentic soils. For this, he vinifies in the most natural way possible. Each plot is vinified separately to keep the freshness of the grapes and the terroir as much as possible, there are no chemical inputs (just like in the vineyard). Bonding is banned, as is filtration.
The wines of the Face B estate are explosive in flavor, they are juicy, they are fresh, they are generous, like Calce.

Calce, a small village with a great diversity of soil such as limestone, marl and shale. These are vinified independently without the use of inputs, fining and filtration. The estate uses different methods in the production of a red (vinified in concrete vats) and a white (fermented in barrels) which leads to the production of many different wines.
