The wines of Domaine Sadon Huguet
The story of Domaine Sadon Huguet
Before settling in Entre-Deux-Mers, Bénédicte and Mathieu Huguet built up their experience with many south-western estates as consultant oenologists. Passionate about biodynamics, they helped several winemakers move towards viticulture that is kinder to soils and the environment. With this philosophy deeply ingrained, they created their own estate, an adventure closely tied to their quest for the ideal wine, with no inputs at all.
The estate covers a few hectares of vines on clay-limestone soils typical of Entre-Deux-Mers. No chemicals are used here, making way for biodynamic preparations and practices that encourage microbial life in the soil. Biodiversity is everywhere, with hedges, trees and cover crops creating a living ecosystem around the vines. Every task is done by hand, following the lunar calendar, to preserve the natural balance of the vine.
The cuvées of Domaine Sadon Huguet
Bénédicte and Mathieu aim to produce wines that convey the energy of the place and of each vintage, without artifice. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon, the region's emblematic grapes, give juicy, fresh, delicate reds, far from conventional Bordeaux. Long macerations extract all the finesse of the fruit without seeking power.
The estate also makes confidential white cuvées from sauvignon blanc, vinified without added sulphur. These vibrant, taut, luminous whites reflect all the vitality of living soils. Each cuvée from Domaine Sadon Huguet is an invitation to discover another side of Bordeaux, freer and more sincere, driven by a deeply humanist vision of wine.
