All about Domaine Fumey-Chatelain
The history of Domaine Fumey-Chatelain
The estate was founded in the mid-1980s with just a few hectares of vines around Arbois and Montigny-lès-Arsures. The severe frost of the early 1990s marked a decisive turning point and led the family to take full control of the winemaking process. Over the years, the vineyard expanded to reach around 17 hectares today, spread across many emblematic lieux-dits of the area. The plots rest on marl, clay, and limestone soils typical of the Jura, bringing diversity and complexity to the wines. The estate is managed with particular attention to soil health, biodiversity, and respect for the vine’s natural rhythm.
The wines of Domaine Fumey-Chatelain
The wines of Domaine Fumey-Chatelain are a faithful reflection of their Jura terroir and the work carried out both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Harvesting is done by hand to preserve grape quality, and vinifications are carried out gently, with minimal intervention, allowing the fruit and soils to fully express themselves. Aging is carefully managed to support the wine without masking it, resulting in lively, balanced, and expressive wines. Whether white or red, the estate’s wines emphasize freshness, precision, and sincerity, fully aligning with a natural and respectful approach to living ecosystems.
