New Eldorado!

The Bugey vineyard extends to the south of the Ain department, between the Jura to the north and Savoy to the east. The vines are located at an altitude ranging from 200 to 550m above sea level. The vineyard is particularly fragmented through sectors with different climates and soils. We could isolate 4 major geographical viticultural situations in Bugey: Cerdon sector (sparkling wines using the ancestral method based on Gamay and Poulsard), Manicle sector (Pinot Noir for the reds and Chardonnay for the whites), Virieu-le-Large around the Grand Colombier (Highness grape variety which produces the wines of the AOC Roussette du Bugey) and Montagnieu sector on the banks of the right bank of the Rhône. In Bugey, we mainly find Chardonnay alongside Jacquère, Altesse, Aligoté, ... for the whites as well as Gamay, Pinot Noir and Mondeuse for the reds, often in a single variety. The Bugey region is very dynamic, many young winegrowers settle in being aware of the richness of the soil while respecting it with clean farming, without pesticides and very little interventionist winemaking methods in order to transcribe as much as possible the quality of the Bugey vineyard.
