The Story of Domaine du Kré
Domaine du Kré was founded in 2021 when Louise Perret and Niels de Chardon decided to launch their own wine project in the Bugey region. The name of the estate, “Kré,” means steep slope in the local dialect, a direct reference to the steep plots and marked hillsides they work on daily. The vineyard is deliberately kept small to allow careful monitoring of each plot and to maintain a handcrafted approach to winemaking. The vines are planted on well-exposed slopes, in a preserved natural environment where the forest, hedges, and local wildlife are fully part of the landscape and the vineyard’s balance.
The Wines of Domaine du Kré
The wines of Domaine du Kré are made with a resolutely natural approach, with special attention to fruit purity and the expression of the Bugey terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested to ensure healthy and ripe fruit, and winemaking is carried out without artifices, with natural fermentations and minimal cellar interventions. The goal is to produce lively, fresh, and digestible wines, marked by the energy of the slopes and the Bugey climate. Designed to be enjoyed and shared, these wines prioritize drinkability and balance while telling the unique identity of a still rather confidential but deeply committed estate.
