The wines of Maison Chastagnol

The story of Maison Chastagnol

Based in Saint-Restitut, in the south of the Drôme, Maison Chastagnol embodies an independent vision of natural wine. Behind the project, Jérôme Chastagnol, a former apprentice to leading figures of living wine such as Yvon Métras and Maxime-François Laurent (Gramenon), has developed an uncompromising approach. With no inherited estate, he has chosen artisanal négoce as his means of expression: he selects organically grown grapes himself, works with whole bunches, without inputs, and vinifies in a troglodyte cellar whose natural climate favours ageing without intervention. No standardisation here: just a sensitive reading of the grapes, the place and the moment. Living, straightforward cuvées from the southern Rhône Valley.

The cuvées of Maison Chastagnol

The wines of Maison Chastagnol reflect this free approach: sincere, unmade-up, always in motion. Cuvées such as Loustic, Rienetaki and Tarabate fully express the potential of the southern Rhône Valley through grapes such as Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. All are naturally vinified: native yeasts, no fining or filtration, and sulphur only if necessary. The result is straight, immediate wines, to open at the table without overthinking. Maison Chastagnol is for anyone looking for sincere southern Rhône wines from a committed artisanal approach, far from standardised wines.
