The wines of Les Bottes Rouges
Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz, from rock to the Jura
Any rock fans here? Les Bottes Rouges, a name borrowed from a song by the band Les Wampas, is the estate of Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz, based in Abergement-le-Petit, between the Arbois and Côtes du Jura appellations.
A former teacher, Jean-Baptiste grew passionate about natural wine over time, notably with Domaine Ratapoil alongside his friend Raphaël Monnier. After an internship with the iconic Stéphane Tissot, he took over a few hectares of vines in 2011 and set out on his own.
A key winegrower of the Jura
Organic farming without hesitation and the most natural winemaking possible, to respect the grapes as much as possible: Jean-Baptiste grows Savagnin, Chardonnay, Trousseau, Poulsard and Pinot Noir, and makes whites and reds with a unique expression. Jura natural wines no longer need an introduction, and neither do those of Les Bottes Rouges!
The cuvées of Les Bottes Rouges
Tôt ou tard is a generous, easy-drinking Ploussard, more or less concentrated depending on the year. Also available in magnum.
Boomerang is a cheeky, perfectly balanced blend: an airy, light, generous and easy-drinking red, the true wine for friends. Also in magnum.
La Pépée is a Pinot Noir all about finesse and fruit, with a slightly wild character that adds complexity.
Léon, a tribute to the grandfather, is a Chardonnay marked by minerality and salinity, perfectly expressing its terroir.
If you get the chance, add the wines of Les Bottes Rouges to your cellar!
