The wines of Gemma Miró
The story of Gemma Miró
It is in Catalonia, in the province of Tarragona, that Gemma Miró chose to make her wines. A young winemaker who wanted to carry on her grandfather's work and give new life to the family vines. The still-young estate covers about six hectares, planted with the region's typical grapes: carignan, grenache and muscat. More than a family story, it is also a story of respect for the terroirs and the origins of her country's wines. The vines are farmed organically, and winemaking aims to be as non-interventionist as possible, to let the grape express itself. Under the Catalan sun, Gemma seeks above all elegance, finesse and lightness, the opposite of the powerful wines often associated with the region. A perfect balance for lively, digestible natural wines from Spain.
The cuvées of Gemma Miró
La Partio is the cuvée that best shows Gemma's talent. A magnificent carignan, all delicacy and elegance, at once spicy, tangy and fruity, breaking the image of a grape often seen as rustic. It is a wine for lovers of free, elegant, digestible wines, best served with simple food: no need for an overly powerful dish, it would be a shame to miss its finesse. Fine charcuterie, a roast chicken or a few tapas are enough to show it off. The estate's other wines, made from grenache or muscat, follow the same line: fruit, freshness and a true Catalan identity.
