The wines of Domaine des Rutissons
Domaine des Rutissons, a historic estate
The estate takes its name from the Rutissons, the inhabitants of its village in the Grésivaudan, in the Isère. A former mixed crop and livestock farm, it became a wine estate thanks to Laurent Fondimare.
In 2010, Laurent Fondimare took over the farm to devote himself entirely to vines. He inherited a few plots of old vines, bought neighbouring abandoned slopes and replanted them with native grapes close to his heart: Persan, Verdesse and Étraire de la Dhuy. The estate now covers more than 7 hectares, including 1.5 hectares of old vines. Wilfrid Debroize, who arrived as an intern in 2012, became his partner in 2015: together they keep the estate moving forward.
The philosophy of Domaine des Rutissons
Their philosophy is simple: take care of their plots while bringing back to life a vineyard abandoned for many years. They work meticulously, respecting the vine and its needs. The estate has been farmed organically since 2014, with AB certification since 2017. Every intervention is thought through to respect the vineyard’s flora and microfauna as much as possible.
In the cellar, no chemical additives: hand harvesting with sorting, fermentation with native yeasts only, for wines that showcase the aroma and originality of each grape.
The cuvées of Domaine des Rutissons
Laurent and Wilfrid invite you to (re)discover the heritage grapes of the Isère, often made as single varieties to reveal their full personality.
Persan, an endemic grape with a southern character, gives a denser wine than Alpine grapes: powerful, fruity and spicy, with lovely ageing potential.
Étraire de la Dhuy, typical of the Grésivaudan, is fruity and spicy, low in alcohol and never heavy: it goes with everything.
Verdesse, the Isère white grape par excellence, offers a fruity, round, generous profile carried by marked acidity.
We have also enjoyed offering La Bête and M. Leblanc. Terroir wines from the Isère, not to be missed!
