Domaine Chêne Lassolle

Domaine Chêne Lassolle

Dominique Tassaux et Thierry Barrault-Tassaux

In Romestaing, in the heart of the Marmandais, Domaine Chêne Lassolle works a few hectares of vines with deep respect for living things. Biodynamics, hand harvesting and vinification with few inputs support work focused on the grape varieties of the South West and the truest expression of the place. Human-scale viticulture, where the aim is less to shape the wine than to give it the chance to tell its origin.

The wines of Domaine Chêne Lassolle

The story of Domaine Chêne Lassolle

Domaine Chêne Lassolle was born in 2022, when Dominique Tassaux and Thierry Barrault-Tassaux settled in Romestaing and took over part of the vines of Château Lassolle, an estate historically run biodynamically by Stéphanie Roussel. Dominique, previously in pharmaceutical purchasing in Switzerland and trained at wine school there, then began a new life as a winemaker. On just over three hectares, she continues the work begun on this land, relying on the principles of biodynamics and close observation of the vines. In the cellar, intervention stays deliberately discreet: the grapes are harvested by hand, sorted and vinified mainly in tanks and jars rather than wood. It is a way of preserving the fruit, the freshness and the character of the grape varieties that make up this small vineyard in Lot-et-Garonne.

The cuvées of Domaine Chêne Lassolle

The Domaine Chêne Lassolle range relies on grape varieties that tell the viticultural identity of Lot-et-Garonne, with a special place for Abouriou, as well as Sauvignon Gris and several red varieties from the South West. The wines aim for freshness, drinkability and digestibility, without piling on winemaking tricks. Reds, rosé and white follow the same philosophy: hand harvesting, careful sorting, native yeasts and ageing in vessels that let the grape express itself. Lively, precise wines that favour balance and a clear reading of the terroir over power or standardisation.
