The wines of Domaine Badea
The story of Domaine Badea
Philippe and Agnès Badea cut their teeth for about fifteen years at organically farmed estates before launching their own adventure. When the time came to create Domaine Badea, choosing organic was therefore only natural. The estate is in Tulette, in the south of the Drôme, right in the heart of the southern Rhône Valley. On about four hectares, Philippe and Agnès pamper the region's king grape, grenache, along with a little mourvèdre and syrah, including some old vines. Their approach is simple and sincere: healthy grapes, winemaking without artifice, and wines that favour fruit and drinkability, even under the southern sun. The result: gourmand reds, approachable but never simplistic, at very gentle prices. Worth a try, it really is!
The cuvées of Domaine Badea
Kidiglou is the estate's thirst-quencher: a 100% grenache made with just six days of maceration, for a fresh, light, fruity juice that works as well at aperitif as at a convivial tapas-style table. À Tue Tête is a little fruit bomb, 100% syrah, slightly spicy and peppery as the grape demands: super effective, from a generous aperitif to a beef onglet with homemade fries. Finally, Carrément à l'Ouest blends old grenache and mourvèdre vines, bringing depth and concentration while staying digestible and approachable from youth. It is the estate's food wine, to keep for red meat such as a barbecued rib of beef. Three wines, three moments, and always the same southern Rhône generosity.
