The Camille and Mathieu Apffel estate is located in St Baldoph in Savoy on the slopes of Mont Granier. From Jura and after traveling for wine (especially in Australia), Mathieu launched his activity in 2014. He works the vines in organic farming on approximately 5 hectares.
Mathieu Apffel is a simple, generous winemaker who proudly carries these values ​​for a healthy culture of the land and a winemaking without inputs. Supported by his wife Camille, the estate is part of a dynamic of renewal in the Savoyard vineyard. Their wines are found on beautiful tables in the capital but also throughout France. The result in the bottle is unfiltered, pure fermented grape juice with precision and bluffing energy. Wines with fresh, juicy and " funky " characters as Camille likes to describe them.

The new wave of dry white wines from Savoy

Camille and Mathieu produce several bottles throughout the estate, mainly dry white wines from Savoy with Rouzan Blanc, Terroir de Saint Alban, Soleyane blanc and their main bottle Avant la Tempête through grape varieties specific to the Savoy region: Jacquère , Chasselas (variety only used in the Détours bottle) and Altesse or more commonly known as Roussette de Savoie. They also cultivate a plot located behind the Massif du Chat in the area of Parves where they blend Pinot Noir and Mondeuse for a result full of fruit on the Soleyane Rouge bottle and great freshness on Soleyanne Blanc.

Meetings around wine

Enriched by their travels around the world, Camille and Mathieu are constantly evolving. Filled with creativity, they regularly give birth to new bottles based on meetings and exchanges with winegrowers from France and elsewhere. With the aim of adapting as well as possible to climate change and the vagaries of everyday life. Like Détours or La Grêlée, which emerged following the hailstorm of June 2019, shortly after their installation. Or even the Soleyane bottles which are the result of a wonderful encounter with a domain and a crush on the vines located on the other side of the Massif du Chat, on the Bugey border.
We have the chance and the privilege to offer you the wines of this adorable, happy and brilliant couple with a promising future. Camille and Mathieu are clearly an integral part of this beautiful Savoy wine landscape by producing natural, pure, lively wines without filters or chemicals with indecent freshness to ultimately extract the magnificent Savoy soil. The wines of Savoy are doing well and it is (among other things) thanks to them!
