The wines of Domaine Partagé - Gilles Berlioz

The story of Gilles Berlioz's estate

A trained landscape gardener, Gilles decided to switch to winemaking after inheriting 0.8 hectares of vines at the foot of the Bauges massif in Chignin, Savoie, in the 1990s. Nine years later, together with his wife Christine, he converted 4.5 hectares of land to organic and biodynamic farming. The couple's principle? One terroir, one grape, one cuvée. They chose to reduce the size of their vineyard to give the vines proper care and produce healthy wines. In 2016 Gilles renamed his estate "Domaine Partagé - Gilles Berlioz" ("shared estate") to symbolise the convivial moments of sharing, mutual help, advice and know-how among the farmers and winegrowers around Chignin.

The cuvées of Domaine Partagé - Gilles Berlioz

Today Domaine Partagé - Gilles Berlioz has more than 4.5 hectares of vines with a range of grape varieties: Chignin-Bergeron, Mondeuse, Altesse, Gamay, Persan, Jacquère and more, producing healthy wines on stony soils of glacial moraine. Gilles Berlioz is an emblematic figure of the Savoie vineyard and the initiator of a regional movement of wines made with respect for living things. Domaine Partagé is considered the best in the Chignin-Bergeron and Chignin appellations. Gilles makes many cuvées, such as "Roussette de Savoie - El Hem", "Chignin - Le Jaja", "Chignin-Bergeron cuvée Les Christine", "Mondeuse - Princesse", "Chignin-Bergeron - Les Fripons", "Mondeuse - La Deuse" and "Chignin-Bergeron - Les Filles".
